Hey there! Greetings from Israel!

I arrived here approximately a week ago for one of my professional speaking gigs scheduled for this year.

And let me tell you:

It’s a beautiful, scenic country offering a myriad of things to see and do…

… but more importantly, I had the fantastic opportunity to once again connect to an international audience ready to hone their skills, become powerful communicators, and find out how they can get paid to speak.

Over the course of my career, I’ve met and worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs, small business owners, and top-level CEOs looking to get ahead of their competition and move the needle in their business.

What always comes as a surprise to me is that most companies use the same thing to market and miss one of the most valuable and underutilized opportunities to reach a wider audience and grow their business.

You guessed it right. I’m talking about public speaking.

In short, speaking allows you to use your voice to spread your message, build authority, and broaden your customer base – all while getting paid to do it.

This gives you an instant edge over your competitors, as face-to-face meetings are more effective and have a greater impact than virtual ones.

As a result, you can easily build trust and rapport with your audience and increase the chances of turning your listeners to potential customers.

2.    Speaking Gives You Credibility and Helps You Establish Authority in Your Field

Most people have a natural respect for professional speakers.

The fact that you have been paid to speak at a conference or any other kind of event shows that you are an expert in your field and allows you to win respect and position yourself as an authority in your industry.

So, when people first meet you as a speaker at an event they are attending, you can rest assured… it’s the best first impression you can possibly make.

OR they can hear firsthand that you know what you are talking about AND get immediate value, as you’ll be sharing some of your tips and knowledge for free.

Take me, for example; I delivered a great talk in Tel Aviv and left the event having booked a couple of meetings with potential customers.

And that wasn’t a stroke of luck, my friend – it happens at every gig I attend.

4.    Speaking Boosts Your Visibility

When you speak at a conference or an event, your audience is much broader than just the people that are attending.

The event organizer will give out handouts, flyers, and other promotional material that the attendees will bring home with them and share it with their personal network.

Events photos and information also get regularly passed around on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels giving you more online visibility.

Many events will even let you bring products for sale, so often you’ll be able to get customers on the spot.

And last but not the least – when you are speaking, you have a room full of eyes on you.

Online, there are so many things to compete with: other websites, ads, the phone ringing, and just an endless stream of information.

In a busy world with declining attention spans, undivided attention is something we all fight hard for – and the stage can give it to you.

As you meet other speakers and event coordinators and your circle of industry contacts grows, it is only natural that your business will too.

Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself and get emails to build your list. Meeting new people will not only allow you to reach more potential customers but also more potential referrals to gigs.

For me, every speaking gig that I do leads to customers and other speaking gigs.

This is the power of working smarter and not harder.

And yes, I am well aware that at times the whole networking game may seem forced and unnatural to you, but if you are serious about growing your business, you need to get out of your comfort zone and grab every opportunity to make a new connection.
